To me, modern anime has lost alot of touch that older animes have. the gundam series is an excellent example along with macross. I'm not denying that there are a select few good ones out there, but thanks to cg, there's alot more diversity, but not the quality. alot of stuff that practically everyone likes, I find lack in it. Naruto, Eureka Seven, and Neon Genesis in my opinion are good examples. Rant mood today...
I'm so so on modern modern anime. Naruto has just been getting too long. I like Eureka Seven. The Evagelion TV series just get too crazy for me to finish, so i'm watching "Rebuild". Your phrase says "Gundam SEED SUX!" right, the only complaint I have about the series is that the level of recycled scenes makes the original Gundam show seem more advanced and it gets even worse half way through DESTINY. That made it seem like you were watching the same battles over and over again. Gundam 00 i'm divided on because the way the series began was awful, but it ended spectacularly.
seed was the only gundam series I chose to stop watching. 00 I find the first season good. I'm so so on second season for story reasons and the fact I didn't like the units as much. Destiny when I watched WAS getting worse as it progressed. I thought that shin would be better than kira, but he's just as bad. I never seen naruto cause it's too popular. same with bleach. with wing, even though they used the same scenes over and over, you still feel like it's a different battle
I had trouble with 00's designs too. To me they looked more alien than the human features that a Gundam should have, and GN science is very different from your normal Gundam science. They did grow on me though.
personaaly I hated the GN tech idea cause it just made the gundams toooooo cheap. I'm not fond of 00 designs either. the designer also made the Another Century's Episode III units which doesn't make sense to me. My avatar here is the ACEII origional unit Gunark made by same designer of Gundam X. so picture this unit with units similar to 00, and they're in the same universe with maybe 3 years apart. kind of an odd jump in tech there, don't you think?
